The DOC of Montecucco was established in 1998, with a separate DOCG for Montecucco Sangiovese in 2011. As a region situated in southern Tuscany, the red wines of Montecucco are made using a minimum of 60% Sangiovese with Ciliegiolo filling in the rest of the blend. Alessandro Bocci is the owner and winemaker at Perazzeta winery in Montecucco, just south of Montalcino. The Perazetta wines have tremendous power, tension, and assertive terroir. The fruit profile of Sara offers layers of bright cherry, crisp acidity, and tantalizing earth tones that frame the beautifully balanced structure of this delicious Tuscan red wine. Known as the everyday wine of the estate, “Sara,” is named after Alessandro’s daughter. It is an outstanding pairing with traditional tomato based pastas or simply grilled meats.
