The 2005 S. Rhodes Vineyards Pinot Noir is a wonderfully complex
expression of the Pinot Noir from our home state. We have long supported
in-state wines, and we were delighted with this one. This will change your
impression of Colorado wine - it's that good! It's a wine that compares
well with similarly priced Pinot Noirs from ANYWHERE! The grapes are
sourced from the Bradley Vineyard, situated along the North Fork of the
Gunnison River. The 5800-foot elevation plus the sand and clay soils
provide an environment that the Pinot Noir grape clearly likes. This,
coupled with the talent of winemaker Steve Rhodes has given us a new
source for quality Pinot Noir.
The '05 S. Rhodes Pinot Noir has a lovely and impressive bouquet with
pure, red cherry and blackberry fruit enhanced by hints of violets,
cinnamon, smoke, and the gamey, earthy nuance so prized by lovers of fine
Pinot Noir. Bright and youthful on the palate, the wine shows surprising
concentration with sumptuous red and black fruit flavors backed by
subtleties of black pepper, raspberry, earth, and smoky spice. Well
structured, this Pinot Noir clearly has the capacity to gain in complexity
over the next 1-2 years, but it's so enchanting you'll be tempted to
drink it right away. We invite you to sample the pleasures of fine Colorado
Pinot Noir.
