This wine is a Delicious Outstanding Red Bargain. The Cortijo (farm
house) III is made from 100% Tempranillo grapes from Rioja Baja. Located
in northern Spain, Rioja Baja is the southern part of sublime Rioja
where some of the best known red wine in Spain is produced. Rioja Baja
terroir produces grapes with good acidity and low tannins making perfectly
enjoyable reds meant for drinking while young. More attractively, the
price allows the Cortijo III to become the choice for that everyday
quaff with dinner!
Rioja is usually a blend of grapes, Tempranillo being predominant, and
is often aged many years before release. Time is money, thus the
consumer pays the high price. For the price conscientious, the Cortijo III
Rioja is minimally aged and is a gorgeous purple plum in color. The fresh
cranberry, red cherry and red raspberry fruits are in perfect balance
with lively acidity and a light brushing of tannins on the finish.
What's for dinner? This red will go with a variety of meals - vegetarian
dishes - white pizza - Moroccan chicken are all divine with this wine. We
also find it is excellent with a simply prepared meal including Brie
and green olives. Whatever suits you, it would be smart to have this
Spanish wine near by.
