Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah make a great couple. Together, these two heavyweight varietals complement one another to create wine with fruit-forward character that has the ability to stand up to new oak aging. Chile's Toro de Piedra has produced an impressive Syrah/Cabernet blend keeping to tradition of the robust style and also sense of place. The microclimate found in the Curicó Valley lends a long growing season, yielding grapes bursting with ripeness and exhibiting varietal character at the fullest.
The unctuous aromas of blackcurrant of the Cabernet Sauvignon and the juicy blackberry of the Syrah partner up on the palate to yield a luscious and layered concentration of fruit. The new American oak used for this 2007 Reserva blend gives the wine the toasty, spicy flavors that balance the rich fruit. This totally compatible marriage of grapes wants earthy, rich foods like grilled sausages, pork tamales or Carne Asada. Put an ever so slight chill on a bottle of Toro de Piedra and enjoy the soft, lush libation into the summer months and beyond.
